Pierre Jeanneret was born in Switzerland in 1896.
A close associate of his cousin Charles-Édouard Jeanneret, better known as Le Corbusier, he graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva.
He worked with Auguste and Gustave Perret in Paris in 1921-1922, before starting to collaborate with Le Corbusier in 1922.
Together they published a manifesto in 1926 entitled 'Five Points Towards a New Architecture' which served as a guideline for their architectural aesthetic.
The building that followed, the Villa Savoye (1928-1931), was a representation of their written ideology.
In 1929 at the Salon d'Automne in Paris, Pierre JEANNERET unveiled a set of modern furniture including tubular steel chairs, stools and a set of modular steel shelves designed in collaboration with Le Corbusier and Charlotte Perriand.
In the early 1950s, Le Corbusier and Jeanneret began a project in Chandigarh, India, designing and producing low-cost buildings for the community.
Le Corbusier abandoned the project midway and Pierre Jeanneret became the chief architect and urban development designer.
He stayed in India for 15 years to follow the work, and Chandigarh became a reference point for modern architecture.
