Lampe Gras modèle 207

  • Description :

Triangular cast iron pyramid base lamp with oak base. Designed and manufactured in 1921, the Gras lamp, with its variable geometry and easily adaptable to the needs of each individual, is capable of lighting machine tools, drawing boards, design offices and even the operating theatre of the liner Île-de-France in the most efficient way. As such, it was an immediate success, to the point of sparking interpretations and imitations, particularly among the members of the Bauhaus. But it was Le Corbusier who gave it a special aura, seeing in the Gras lamp, in his own words, an “object-tool”.
